What is CGI Framework

CGI Framework is a suite of native CLX components and tools aimed to help Delphi and Kylix programers in the arid and tortuous way of building CGI programs.

For you that do not program in Delphi/Kylix:

  • CLX (pronounce "clicks") is a library of routines and object classes. That library is cross-platform and programs made with it, runs both in Windows 32bits and Linux.
  • components are CLX objects derived from a common ancestor called TComponent. A component is an object that may be used on "visual programing".
  • Delphi and Kylix cames in many flavors. The most basic flavor, called "Foundation" or "Personal" is free for download and use and features a open-licensed striped-down version of CLX. That version of CLX does not include any support for CGI programing.

With the future "1.0" version of CGI Framework, a programmer will be able to create a complete CGI program using only a Foundation/Personal version of Delphi/Kylix and the components provided by CGI Framework.

In the current version you will need a Professional/Enterprise version of Delphi/Kylix, due to a lack of some components in CGI Framework.

In the current version, CGI Framework offers two main components: TPageBuilder and TTagInterpreter. These components are a replacement for TPageProducer, present on non-free version of CLX.
